Trail Summary
The Mad River Trail is a great way to get from downtown Dayton’s RiverScape to Eastwood MetroPark, the Creekside Trail, Huffman MetroPark and the Wright Brothers-Huffman Prairie Trail. The lion's share of the trail is relatively flat, offering an easy workout that even children will be able to handle—whether biking, skating or walking. At the very eastern end of the route three switchbacks take you up Huffman Dam for a spectacular view of the Mad River Valley!

The Mad River Trail begins at downtown Dayton's RiverScape MetroPark and runs along the Mad River, extends through Eastwood MetroPark and then reaches Huffman MetroPark in Greene County. RiverScape is the location of the Bike Hub, a downtown bike commuter facility featuring secured bike parking and shower facilities for member bike commuters. Eastwood MetroPark features the historic lagoon gardens and great open spaces. Eastwood Lake is available for boating, and the Mad River offers fishing and paddling. The Mad River Trail passes by the entrance drive for the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, Ohio's most visited tourist spot. And the trail is a great commute option, too; employee gates for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base are accessible from the route between Eastwood and Huffman MetroParks. At the eastern end, the trail connects with the Wright Brothers-Huffman Prairie Trail, which continues east toward Wright State University and the City of Fairborn.
